Constantly busy

So much for the regular updates! I've been really busy over the last few months with the record label, uni work, etc. I've hardly had time to sit back and have some time to myself. Christmas has been good though and I'm looking forward to getting back to work.

Hydra Records is officially well underway! One of the band's we were looking to work with, Buried In Alaska, met with us in December and they were fantastic. We watched them rehearse, then sat and chatted about their music and the record label when they were done. They're all really nice people and on top of that they're hilarious too so I'm stoked about working with them in the new year! They're going to meet with us again in January so we can talk in more detail about what we are able to offer them.
Today I've been sending out emails for gig bookings for them to various venues and promoters across South Wales and am hoping to receive some replies over the next few days.

We began the Facebook and Twitter promo campaign for the label just before Christmas and the Official website is due to launch on 01/01/12, I made a promo video too, which I put up on Youtube last week to generate a bit more hype about what we're doing. We've had a great response so far, 30 followers on Twitter, 97 likes on Facebook and 125 views of the promo video!

Right now I'm just waiting around to launch the website and hoping for the best, I've started semi planning some things we need to do in January buy I can't really do a lot more until the whole team is back in Cardiff after the Christmas holidays. I want to start booking some more gigs and practices for my own band Colourful Thief too, I've got lots of new ideas for songs that are just floating around waiting to be used.

Will update again in the new year.

Intro

Hello! As you can tell this is the beginning of my Blog, I'm pretty much just going to use this to document my life as a musician and my work in the music industry. I thought it would be nice to write something to keep track of everything I'm doing so I can reflect upon it later when things are more settled.

I've recently started managing my band 'Colourful Thief', which I'm really enjoying so far, it's a little more intense than the live music promotion work I've been doing over the summer but far more rewarding in many ways. I can already see the band's image developing from a small acoustic songwriting project that was once very low key and personal to Luke (our singer) into something far larger with a lot of musical potential.
We're going in to the studio sometime over the next few weeks throughout November to begin recording our debut E.P, it's going to be quite easy for us to really get our teeth in to the whole recording process I think, everyone is really excited about spending more time working on the songs we already have as well as the ones we finished writing this week!
Now I'm having to think about things like E.P artwork, what tracks we want to put on the record, the kind instrumentation we want on each of the tracks, single releases, photoshoots, merchandise, distribution of the final product, etc. It's a little overwhelming, consuming the majority of my thoughts, but I don't mind. I love being busy.
Today we were confirmed to support a band from Scotland called "We Are The Physics" in December, it's going to be a really good one! Very much looking forward to playing on the same bill as them!

The Major Project part of Uni is really keeping my attention at the moment, which is really exciting, I can't wait to get things off the ground properly! But more about that later, I don't want to give too much away before we publicly announce what we're doing.

More to be announced within the week hopefully, I'll try to keep this as up to date as possible.
